The Silent Superstar

Tim Duncan

When people ask who is the greatest PF in the game today, people will say Kevin Love, Chris Bosh, Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki, Blake Griffin, but it is rare for a person to say Tim Duncan and the shocking thing about that is he is the greatest PF to ever play the game. The former number 1 overall pick out of Wake Forest in 1997, was nicknamed the human fundamental and that is exactly what he is. Tim Duncan does not bring the flash and the above the rim dunks what you see from players today he just brings championships. All Tim Duncan has done in his career is consistently be a 20 and 10 guy and he is a 2 time MVP winner.  He has one of the most unstoppable moves in NBA history with his mid range bank shot, Tim Duncan has changed the game and he does not get the credit he deserves. He is a 4 time NBA champion a three time finals MVP, 14 time All Star, 5 time all defensive player. What do we see on sportcenter every day Blake Griffin dunking the ball, I can only imagine what Tim Duncan is thinking, you can have your dunks and I will take my championship rings and I will continue to be the greatest PF to ever live. Thats Tim Duncan boring but effective.

Not So Happy Homecoming

Steve Nash Returns Home

Steve Nash Returns Home

So much for the Lakers turning their season around. The Lakers lost tonight on ESPN to the worst team in the Western Conference Phoenix Suns 92 to 86. This game snaps the LA Lakers 3 game winning streak, and it did not come without a cost, it appears that Dwight Howard has re-aggravated his shoulder. Steve Nash on his return trip to Phoenix ended the night with 11pts on 3 of 8 shooting, 2ast and 4rebs and the worst stat of all a L. Micheal Beasley led the way for the Suns scoring 27pts. Well it looks like back to the drawing boards for the Lakers

Grizzlies cut ties with Gay

Rudy Gay

The first major trade in the NBA has happened and it involved the Grizzlies leading scorer Rudy Gay. The trade was a three team trade involving the Grizzlies, Pistons and the Raptors. In the trade the Toronto Raptors obtained Rudy Gay and Hamed Haddadi, the Pistons received Jose Calderon and the Grizzlies obtained Tyshaun Prince, Ed Davis and Austin Daye.

The Grades

Memphis Grizzlies: B-

It was a move that had to be done or the Grizzlies were going to be in cap hell next year, I like Rudy Gay but he is not a max player and he was not playing like it this year. They added a improving player in Ed Davis, a player who is going to replace Rudy Gay with Tyshaun Prince and folks he is not the same Tyshaun Prince from 2004 and Austin Daye gives them depth. This trade does not eliminate them from championship contention but it does hurt them, this was a cap move and they got some decent players in return.

Toronto Raptors: B

Rudy Gay was the best player in this trade and thats why the raptors get a B, the reason why the Raptors do not get higher is because this is their team for the next 3 years. They have a lot of money tied up in Lowry, Fields, Gay, and Bargnani. I like the move they made they will compete for a playoff spot next year and the following years with this trade but this trade does not make them Championship contenders and they do not have wiggle room anymore.

 Detroit Pistons: B

The Pistons get a quality player in Calderon who will now be the backup PG behind Brandon Knight. I think Calderon is one of the most underrated players in the NBA but he does not move the needle for the Pistons. Its just sad that the last piece of the NBA championship team in 2004 is now gone in Tyshaun Prince

Micheal Jordan the unreachable figure

When you ask people who is the GOAT (greatest of all time) in basketball, 99.9% of people will say Micheal Jordan and I don’t blame them for doing so. Micheal Jodan has became so GOD like that nobody can pass him as the GOAT. I mean it is hard to argue with a guy who averaged 30pts per game throughout his career, but it is not like he was perfect. Micheal Jordan is my favorite player of all time but people act like he never missed a shot, never had a turnover, and never missed a game winner. Like in this debate with Stephan A. Smith and Skip Bayless, it does not matter how good Lebron James is he will never be Micheal Jordan because we don’t want him to become Micheal Jordan. I don’t like Lebron but he is fighting a battled to become the second best player of all time because in our mind nobody has been or will be better than Micheal Jordan  There is one more reason why nobody will pass Micheal Jordan and that is his shoes

The most popular shoes in america and thats why nobody will pass him because he is the master at avertisment. Lebron can’t pass him because of the Decision and Kobe can’t pass him because of the rape charge. Micheal Jordan will be the GOAT for life and nobody will change the game as much as MJ did.

MVP race 1/29/2013

Every Wednesday I am going to post my new top ten in the MVP race

10 Blake Griffin

I think Blake Griffin is the most overatted player in the NBA and I will probably say this a lot but he deserves so far to be on this list

9 Paul George

Paul George young all star on a good east team, and they are going to be a good seed and this was all with Roy Hibbert struggling and Granger hurt

8 Russel Westbrook

Westbrook is the second best player on the best team in the league and is a top 10 player in this league

7 Tony Parker

Nobody can stop him this year maybe beside if Pop wants to sit him

6 James Harden

I mean look at the numbers he is putting up, and now look at the players that are surrounding him, and they would be in the playoffs if it started today

5 Carmelo Anthony

He can’t be stopped this year, his best year as a pro and his record shows that but he has been hurt a lot thats why he is only 5

4 Chris Paul

Best player on one of the best team in the NBA, he has been what the Clippers need and I think he resigns in the offseason

3 Stephen Curry

Who would of thought that the Warriors would be this good, and that is because of Stephen Curry, he can score inside and out, with Ellis gone he has played amazingly and he has not been hurt as much as normal

2 Lebron James

He is great (even though I do not like him) enough said

1 Kevin Durnat

Putting up career highs in blocks, rebounds, and assists and he is on the best team he can not be stopped until he holds the trophy when it is all said and done.

People might ask where is the Black Mamba and even though he is having a great year his team is not in the playoffs and I cannot reward that

Does Rondo’s ACL End an Era

The end of an era

The end of an era

It only feels like yesterday, when the big 4 formed in Boston, three all time greats in Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce all in search for their first ring joined a little known point guard out of Kentucky (Rajon Rondo), to create one of the best teams in NBA history. Six years later it seems like you can finally write the obituary on the Boston Celtics Era (2008-2013)

What Now

Now that Rondo has torn his ACL, the chances of the Celtics winning the championship are slim to none, even making the playoffs are now in question because their best player has went down with a season ending injury. Now thinking of it the big 4 might have brought the Boston Celtics a championship but it might have set them back 10 years of having another chance at one. Ray Allen has joined the Miami Heat, Kevin Garrnett is a “all star” this year but only because the fans voted for him. Paul Pierce is in the last year of his contract but are the Celtics really going to let go of one of the greatest Celtics of all time. Rondo was the only player on the Celtics that had any trade value and now he is hurt. There bench and role players are also not that impressive, Jason Terry is on his last leg in the NBA, Chris Wilcox is a career journeyman, Jeff Green coming off heart surgery. The success the Celtics had last year might of caused them to give it one more try because now they have KG under contract and a lot of their role players are now under contract. The upcoming future does not look bright for the Celtics.

Time to cut ties

I hate to say it but it is time to blow it up, the first thing I would do is look to get rid of KG. I love KG one of the greatest and intense players to ever play the game, he is the Ray Lewis of basketball. KG has a no trade clause so the Celtics would either have to trade KG to a contender or the Timberwolves (his former team), if I was the GM you call the Thunder. The Thunder do have some good players in the post in Ibaka and Perkins but they do not have that scoring threat that makes other teams fear. I would trade KG and Barbosa to the Thunder for Jeremy Lamb, Perry Jones, Nick Collison, Thabeet and Eric Maynor. If the Celtics have to get younger and this trade does that.  Then I make a call to the Grizzlies, trying to trade Paul Pierce and Fab Melo for Rudy Gay. If these trades are made you can build around a core of

PG: Rondo/Maynor

SG: Bradley/Lamb

SF: Gay

PF: Sullinger/Jones

C: Draft a Center

Who knows

Like Doc Rivers said if you want to say they are done, do it but Doc is not willing to quit on this team and you never know
